Get a grant for CO2-reducing energy efficiency measures at your biogas plant
At SLP, we have structured the BAFA application process so that your time is kept to a minimum. We know that people in practice have a lot to do. That’s why we do 95% of the job.
You give us the basic data (30 minutes). We get the rest from the manufacturers – agitators, feeding systems, pumps, frequency converters and much more.
We also upload the application and answer questions from BAFA.

So far, every application we submitted has been approved.
We also tell you what works and what doesn’t. 40% funding isn’t always possible.
So far we have been successful with
- agitator replacement
- frequency converter installation
- heat pump replacement
- feeding system replacement
- heat-to-power conversion
- ultrasound systems
- shredding technology
Besides the investment, you of course also save a lot of electricity and therefore costs. Or you feed more cheap, fibrous feedstocks without increasing power consumption.
In principle, any investment that avoids CO2 can be funded.

Here are 3 successful examples:
Biogas plant 1 (in the Allgäu)
The share of fibrous feedstocks is increased. The existing technology can’t handle the agitation. There is no shredding. Own power consumption would rise sharply.
With efficient agitators, new shredding and a new, efficient feeding system, the biogas plant is made fit for the future.
Since the efficient equipment avoids approx. 800,000 kWh of electricity and 285 t of CO2, BAFA is providing €169,840 in funding.
Biogas plant 2 (in Baden-Württemberg)
The share of grass in the ration is increased.
The existing shredding is replaced by efficient liquid shredding. This reduces the agitation effort and lowers power consumption.
Since the efficient equipment avoids 173,000 kWh of electricity and 74 t of CO2, BAFA is providing €41,902 in funding.
Biogas plant 3 (in Schleswig-Holstein)
The submersible motor agitators are replaced by paddle agitators with frequency converters. A new substrate heating system with energy-efficient circulation pumps is installed. A liquid shredder and a separator reduce viscosity and agitation effort.
Since the efficient equipment avoids approx. 400,000 kWh of electricity and 171 t of CO2, BAFA is providing €105,482 in funding.
In principle, any investment that avoids CO2 can be funded.
