Biochar · Consulting
It turns unused biomass into value, heals soils, cleans water, closes nutrient cycles and stores CO₂. We combine these properties into a project that pays off.

Why biochar?
It turns unused biomass — what costs money today — into a product with value.
Anyone who currently pays to dispose of biomass saves these costs and turns it into a business: with their own char, regional cycles and new revenue.
It stores nutrients and water, revitalises soil life and makes depleted soils fertile again.
Specifically functionalised, it filters nutrients such as phosphorus from wastewater and protects water bodies.
It binds nutrients where they arise and releases them again in the soil — a closed cycle.
The carbon from the biomass stays permanently bound instead of escaping as CO₂.
The problem
Biochar is seen as a climate solution — a way to bind CO₂. That’s true. But it’s only one of many effects. Anyone who uses only one gives away the rest — and the project only just about pays off.
Plants that aim solely at CO₂ certificates. The benefits for soil, water and value creation are completely left on the table.
Char conceived purely as a soil improver — the effect on water, the nutrient cycle and the climate remains unused.
Consultants with nice concepts who have never got a plant up and running themselves.
Our solution
This is how we approach every project:
An example from practice
Local biomass residues are turned into functionalised biochar — which then solves several of the island’s problems one after another.
Functionalised with iron, the char filters phosphorus from the resorts’ wastewater. The lagoon stays clear — protecting corals and tourism.
The nutrient-loaded char then goes onto the fields and makes degraded soils fertile again.
Higher yields, fewer food imports, new jobs — and permanently sequestered CO₂.
Our experience
We have always wanted to make something out of nothing — to literally “turn ‘it’s there anyway’ biomass into gold”: developing and implementing ideas that dramatically increase value and value creation. We come from regional development: back in 1995 we started turning the organic waste bin into biogas. That’s where we began with biogas plants. Alongside this, we supported regional value-creation projects, for example regional marketing projects such as Altmühltal lamb, some of which are still running today. Biochar is the logical continuation. Over 30 years of project and regional development, 750+ successful funding applications, multiple awards.
started turning the organic waste bin into biogas back in the 1990s.
developed a simple carbonisation unit for home use and for rural regions in the tropics.
turned invasive plants such as water hyacinth, water fern and thornbush into biochar.
upgraded agricultural residues such as maize stalks and cobs into biochar.
upgraded depleted tropical soils and quadrupled the harvest.
created income for women out of nothing.
How we work
We start free of charge — and stay by your side until the project is running.
01
Which effects are in your biomass, and does your project pay off? We clarify that first — honestly and with figures.
02
We develop your project as a cycle: ecologically sound and economically viable — including technology, funding and CO₂ certification.
03
We stay by your side, step by step, until the plant is running.
Make your own biochar
With the Carbon Box, green waste, beetle-damaged wood and paludi biomass become your own biochar.
Next step
Get the partner who uses the full potential of biochar — not just one sixth of it. We’ll look at it together: free of charge and without obligation.
