Compressed Biogas (CBG) · India
India has set one of the world’s most ambitious renewable-gas targets, with thousands of CBG plants planned under SATAT. The opportunity is enormous. But building another biogas plant is no longer the challenge — building one that consistently delivers its designed production is.
Performance isn't promised. It's engineered.
Most project decisions focus on CAPEX — understandable, but a CBG plant is built for the next 20+ years. A small saving during construction can mean significantly higher operating costs across the plant’s lifetime, or worse, permanent underperformance. The real cost of a biogas plant isn’t what you spend on Day One. It’s what the plant produces every single day afterwards. That’s why we believe performance is the best investment.
The reality after commissioning
Every investor starts with the same goal: a profitable CBG plant. Yet too many projects meet the same reality after start-up. The difference is never the brochure — it’s how the plant was engineered.
A plant that merely runs
Lower gas yields than expected. Higher operating costs. Longer start-up periods. Lower-than-planned CBG production. The plant may run, but it never reaches its true economic potential.
A plant that performs
Designed production, delivered reliably, for decades. Engineered from the feedstock up — so every tonne of CBG the plant was designed to make actually reaches the grid.
We don't start with the digester
Every successful CBG project begins long before methane is produced — with understanding the feedstock: its structure, its fibres, its digestibility, its biological behaviour. No digester can compensate for poor feedstock preparation. And 8,760 full-load hours a year are only possible if you have the feedstock for all 8,760 hours.
01
Structure, fibres, digestibility and biological behaviour — assessed before anything is designed. More feedstock is available than you think — and with our experience, we help you find these sources.
02
Special straw processing prevents floating layers; liquid fibre disintegration inspired by the digestive process of a cow.
03
Controlled high-load hydrolysis feeding a two-stage anaerobic process, driven by advanced process biology.
04
Energy-efficient operation, engineered end-to-end to maximise methane production for decades.

Designed for performance
5 → ~6 TPD
Our current plant is engineered with a guaranteed design capacity of 5 tonnes of CBG per day. Based on our engineering calculations and process design, we expect approximately 6 tonnes per day under suitable operating conditions. That additional output isn’t the result of larger equipment — it’s the result of better process engineering.
And because your fixed costs stay the same, the additional revenue from that extra tonne goes almost entirely into additional profit — around one fifth more CBG, with practically the same cost base.
Why investors choose SLP
With more than 30 years of experience in engineering, construction, commissioning and plant operation, projects on four continents, and experience across more than 57 different feedstocks, we know that every successful CBG plant depends on thousands of engineering decisions. Getting those decisions right is what we do.
We build to German standards — robust, durable and proven. And we adapt them to Indian conditions: to the local feedstocks, climate, regulations and suppliers. We localise as much as possible, so only the key equipment comes from Germany.

Flexible cooperation
Every customer has different objectives, so we meet you at the level your project needs. And for partners who already have customers, construction and project management — but not a proven biological process — our technology licensing lets you deliver high-performance CBG projects without spending years developing your own.
Turnkey delivery, engineered around performance from feedstock to full load.
Process and plant engineering built on 30+ years of operating know-how.
Deliver high-performance projects on our proven process — no years of R&D.
The biological chain designed for your specific feedstocks and targets.
Independent input where your project needs it most.
