Up to a 40% grant for lower-emission digestion of slurry and manure

You want to digest more manure in your biogas plant and reduce emissions? The FNR programme funds the necessary investments — from gas-tight storage covers to processing technology. We check whether your project fits and support you with the concept, the application and the expert supervision. For projects in Germany only.

What it's about

Digesting more slurry and manure reduces emissions — but it costs money first.

Digesting more manure reduces greenhouse gas emissions and feedstock costs — but it requires investment: in gas-tight covers for the digestate storage, in processing and mixing technology or in additional storage capacity. Without funding, you carry that alone.

FNR funding covers up to 40% of it. But it comes with clear conditions: the application must be submitted before the project starts, a manure investment concept is required, and expert supervision is mandatory. A formal error or an order placed too early costs you the grant.

That’s exactly where we support you.

The details

What is eligible?

Eligible are investments that reduce emissions from the use of manure and increase the share of manure:

Gas-tight covers for digestate storage — incl. safety equipment and integration into the gas system
Upgrading existing plants — mixing, pumping, dosing, shredding and disintegration technology, heat recovery
Storage tanks — gas-tight tanks, digestate storage, pre-storage and emission-reducing intermediate storage
Collection & reception of manure — reception, weighing, hygiene and transport technology
Plant components for new plants — with a manure share of at least 70%
Joint plants — joint digestion / central upgrading (manure share ≥ 50%)
Investment support & expert supervision — planning, concept, acceptance

Not eligible: e.g. land, livestock buildings, mobile equipment, ongoing operating costs and power generation itself (that is covered by the EEG/KWKG).

How we support you

Two things — depending on what you need.

Funding advice & application

We guide you through it

From an honest preliminary check through the manure investment concept to the application via easy-Online — we do the application, you focus on your project.

Expert supervision

I am an approved expert

I am approved as an expert for the FNR programme and am happy to review your application.

The road to funding

Four steps to your grant.

01

Preliminary check

Quick funding check or call: does your project fit the programme?

02

Concept & application

Manure investment concept and comparative quotes, application before the project starts.

03

Implementation

You build, the expert supervision runs alongside.

04

Proof & payment

Proof of use with invoices — then the grant is paid.

What's at stake

The right timing is decisive.

Without proper preparation

Anyone who places orders before applying loses the funding.

And the deadlines are running: construction measures by 31 Dec 2028, everything else by 30 Jun 2029.

With us

The state covers up to 40% of the investment.

Your plant digests more manure and runs with lower emissions.

Concept, application and supervision are taken care of.

Why us

We've been on your side of the table ourselves.

Over 750 successful funding applications, 30 years of practice with our own biogas plants. We have submitted applications and operated plants ourselves — we know both sides of the table. Katharina Danner is listed as an FNR-approved expert for expert supervision and is also a dena-certified energy consultant.

At a glance

The key facts.

How much manure do you need?

Existing plant with manure

Already digesting manure? Then you need more than 1,000 t per year in addition.

Existing plant without manure

Not using manure yet? Then you need a manure share of at least 20%.

New plant

Building new? Then you need a manure share of at least 70%.

Grant

up to 40% (small businesses + cover; medium 25%, large 10%), max. €300,000

Scope of funding

gas-tight covers and almost everything around more manure and slurry digestion — processing, mixing and storage technology

Joint plants

Supplying manure for joint digestion or raw gas for central upgrading — manure share ≥ 50%, radius ≤ 20 km

Timing

Application before the project starts (easy-Online) — earlier costs are not eligible

Requirement

Existing plant in operation for ≥ 12 months, manure investment concept required

Expert supervision

mandatory — funded up to 80%, max. €4,000

Deadlines

construction 31 Dec 2028, otherwise 30 Jun 2029

Honest pre-selection

Are we a good fit?

We're the right partner if …

you want everything from a single source — an experienced partner who supports you from the first conversation to the payment.

you value close support that comes from real biogas practice and knows the funding programmes as well as the technology in your plant.

Probably not the right fit if …

it mainly has to be fast and the application just has to go out “somehow”.

speed matters more to you than thoroughness. We’d rather prepare your application carefully and robustly — that takes a little more time, but it stands up to scrutiny.

More than funding

Planning the entire plant at the same time?

We are engineers first. If you are building a new biogas plant or converting to more manure, we support you from the calculation to stable full load — including the right funding.

Next step

Call before you place orders.

Tell us briefly what you are planning — in a short conversation we’ll tell you whether and how the funding fits you.
